Marking, IPR and partner-agency rules appear inside the Entry / Entry Summary category. Questions test the marking duty, which exception applies, and the detention clocks for trademark and copyright goods.
Every foreign article must be marked legibly, conspicuously and permanently with its English country name for the ultimate purchaser, usually the retail buyer (134.1(d), 134.11). When CBP finds goods not legally marked it sends CBP Form 4647: mark, or export or destroy, under supervision, or a certificate of marking with samples (134.51-134.52). Repacked articles may be excepted if new containers show origin; liquidation can be deferred 60 days (134.34).
