A souvenir mug made in China is printed "Grand Canyon, Arizona". How must its country of origin be marked under 19 CFR 134.47?
19 CFR 134.47 says that when a U.S. location name appears as part of a souvenir marking or trademark, the article must be legibly, conspicuously and permanently marked with the country of origin preceded by 'Made in', 'Product of' or similar words, in close proximity to the U.S. name or in another conspicuous place. This prevents the U.S. place name from misleading the buyer. Source: 19 CFR 134.47, 134.46 (eCFR, as at 7 Oct 2026).
Thinking the country name alone, anywhere, is enough.
