A licensed individual customs broker files her triennial status report and pays the $100 fee through eCBP on Friday, February 26, 2027. CBP's website had urged brokers to file by the end of January. What is the status of her license?
Under 19 CFR 111.30(d)(1) the triennial status report is due on February 1 of each third year after 1985, and a report received during the month of February is considered filed timely. February 26, 2027 is inside that window, so the license is unaffected. Suspension by operation of law happens only if the report is not filed by March 1 of the reporting year (111.30(d)(4)). CBP's earlier target date is guidance; the regulatory deadline controls. Source: 19 CFR 111.30(d)(1), (d)(4) (eCFR, as at 7 Oct 2026); CBP TSR page (filing window Dec 14, 2026 - Feb 28, 2027).
Treating CBP's recommended filing date as the legal deadline and missing that all of February counts as timely.
