When could individual brokers first earn qualifying continuing education credits toward the 2024-2027 triennial period, and by when did CBP ask them to certify the 20 credits?
CBP's notice of November 1, 2024 (89 FR 87387) set January 1, 2025 as the compliance date from which brokers may complete qualifying continuing broker education, and set 20 credits for the 2024-2027 triennial period with certification of completion by February 1, 2027 (the status report due date in 19 CFR 111.30(d)(1)). The triennial period itself began February 1, 2024, and the CE rule took effect July 24, 2023, but neither date started the earning window. Assuming credits could be earned from the start of the triennial period.
